For almost twenty-eight years, I?ve been an autism dad. Michael, my son, is autistic and non-verbal, however, his quiet demeanor has provided me with an infinite source of lessons. Mostly, through simple observation, I?ve come to see life in a much different way. In short, he?s helped me to like myself much more than I did as a young man. This book is a simple collection of essays about the insanity we?re dealing with currently in the United States. When I began putting them together as a book, I realized every one of these essays, serious or humorous, contained a perspective I?ve gained from Michael?s life lessons. We?re a team. In life and in our books, Michael quietly inspires me and I simply steer my words according to the directions he has given me. I think they?re good lessons for any life, especially in the ass-backward times we are experiencing during the 'trump years.' (Author?s note: I FREQUENTLY don?t capitalize his name. He?s a pathetic, tiny man who isn?t worthy to tie my son?s shoes.) Please enjoy a slice of our life and the valuable lessons I?ve learned from Michael and others with mental challenges. They are beautiful souls with a great deal to teach us, and this book is dedicated to all of them throughout the world.P.N.
